Sustainability

SUSTAINABLE WEDDINGS AND EVENTS ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY POPULAR, AND THERE’S NO BETTER PLACE TO HOST THEM THAN AT THE DAALARNA GARDEN IN SZENTENDRE!

This eco-friendly venue is nestled on a five-hectare estate, right next to the Danube-Ipoly National Park, on the historic Kő-hegy hillside, known for its vineyards. The property boasts a stunning one- hectare lavender field, forests, trees, and blooming meadows, an English-style garden, a garden stream, and a variety of aquatic and field-dwelling animals that call this estate home. Could there be a better reason to say that Daalarna Garden is one of Hungary’s finest eco-friendly venues?

A Vast Solar Panel Park Powers the Estate

THE MOST REMARKABLE ECO-FRIENDLY FEATURE OF DAALARNA GARDEN IS ITS SOLAR PANEL PARK, LOCATED ON THE EDGE OF THE PROPERTY. The energy generated by the solar panels ensures the venue’s sustainable and efficient operation with the support of modern technologies.

Based on our experience, this solar park fully powers all events during the summer season. Thanks to this renewable energy source, heating, cooling, and lighting operate entirely from solar energy until the end of October.

For those who may not be familiar, solar panels convert sunlight into electricity in a completely eco- friendly, “green” way, without emitting harmful substances. This energy is delivered to users through a network and can be used to power various technologies, such as lighting, heating, and cooling systems.

Fully Automated Operations at Daalarna Garden

THANKS TO SOLAR ENERGY, THE OPERATIONS OF DAALARNA GARDEN ARE ALMOST ENTIRELY AUTOMATED, ELIMINATING UNNECESSARY ELECTRICITY USE, WATER WASTE, AND EXCESSIVE ENERGY CONSUMPTION.

In the restrooms and dressing rooms, everything from soap dispensers to water usage and hand dryers operates with touchless technology. This not only ensures hygiene but also protects the environment by preventing waste.

A Fully Insect-Friendly Environment

THE ENTIRE FIVE-HECTARE ESTATE IS DESIGNED TO ENSURE THAT INSECTS, AMPHIBIANS, BIRDS, AND SMALL FIELD ANIMALS CAN THRIVE.

There’s no extermination, poisoning, or fencing off of wildlife. The flowering meadows and English-style garden provide insects with ample habitat and food, while the estate’s many trees and forested areas offer birds and small field animals safety and shelter. A small stream near the main entrance supports amphibians and aquatic creatures, making it a home for numerous frogs, fish, and turtles, who now spend their days happily in this natural haven!

Chemical-Free Maintenance at Daalarna Garden

DAALARNA GARDEN IS ONE OF THE RARE ESTATES THAT AVOIDS USING CHEMICALS OR TOXINS FOR ITS UPKEEP AND GARDENING.

This is especially important to protect the insects and small field animals living on the property. If a tree or shrub ever requires special care, only eco- friendly solutions are employed. Daalarna Garden is committed to creating and preserving a sustainable environment. We do not use chlorine to disinfect the pool water either, we use salt water technology.

Built from Recycled Materials

A PIVOTAL DESIGN OBJECTIVE WAS TO MAXIMIZE GUEST SATISFACTION WHILE MINIMIZING THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT DURING BOTH CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION. THUS, THE PRINCIPLES OF “GREENOLOGY” AND GREEN ARCHITECTURE GUIDED THE SELECTION OF MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGIES.

95 percent of Daalarna Garden’s structures, including almost the entire wooden framework, are constructed from recycled materials. This includes the roof, paving stones, walls, and most of the coverings. For instance, the entire range of wood and cast iron materials was repurposed from a demolished historical monument. A significant portion of the paving stones originated from historic remnants not utilized in the reconstruction of the Hungarian National Museum’s garden, while the roof incorporates salvaged pots from a sacral building that was demolished in Vojvodina, Serbia.
