Daalarna Garden is not only beautiful because of the surrounding landscape or the fabulous lavender field! What makes it a truly unique wedding venue are the special architectural designs that Anita Benes, designer of the wedding dress brand Daalarna, dreamed up together with her husband!
Twenty years after founding the wedding dress brand Daalarna, Anita Benes and her husband decided it was time to launch another project together, the unique wedding venue Daalarna Garden in Szentendre. The five-hectare estate was first unveiled to the public in 2023, but the construction work and development of the venue began nine years ago.
“When we came here, there was nothing else on the land near Stone Mountain except some almond trees and bushes. Everything you see is planted and designed by us starting with the entrance lined with plane trees and thuja bushes, through the one-acre lavender field to the interior units of the Daalarna Garden.”
– says Anita Benes, designer of the wedding dress brand Daalarna, who, together with her husband, has deliberately designed the estate to accommodate all needs and requests with maximum comfort and exclusivity. All this, of course, with the utmost care for the environment and sustainability in the creation of this unique wedding venue.
“When it comes to materials, we made sure that everything was sourced locally. We wanted the construction to provide jobs for local people. And in the design, it was important to ensure that the buildings would serve the guests to the highest possible level, while at the same time leaving the smallest environmental footprint. Both during the construction and the operation.”
– says Anita Benes, who has now given us an insight into the unique architectural designs that will make Daalarna Garden in Szentendre not only beautiful but also a unique wedding venue.
Daalarna Garden features sustainable and unique architectural designs
Daalarna Garden incorporates the principles of greenology (green architecture), inside and out. The designers have paid particular attention to sustainable architectural designs in their choice of materials and structural techniques. This is one of the reasons why the unique wedding venue looks so beautiful and blends in with the surrounding Hungarian landscape. On the other hand, several special features make Daalarna Garden a unique wedding venue in the Budapest area!
The unique wedding venue with its special wood panelling
The indoor spaces of Daalarna Garden are special in many ways. For example, the wooden roof structures and panelling are completely unique, as they are almost entirely made of used wood. The wooden panelling and support frames that cover the Barn inside and out come from a 19th-century demolished tobacco drying building, which has been given a very special shade by the aromatic essences released by the tobacco leaves!
The Stone House is made of special stonework
Daalarna Garden estate includes a two-storey, 160 m² Stone House with three double suites with a walk-in wardrobe, a panoramic view and, of course, a private bathroom. The stone walls of this building recall the atmosphere of the old days, all with tastefully modern technology as if it has been standing here for a hundred years. However, the stonework of the Stone House was only completed a few years ago under the direction of master craftsman Lajos Pap from Szentendre. At the same time, the materials come from the mines of the area, Budakalász and Dunabogdány.
The unique wedding venue also has a long history of flagstones
Daalarna Garden has minimised the use of new concrete and flagstones around the building units to allow the rooms to blend in with nature. However, where the use of flagstones was absolutely necessary, the designers have used an alternative solution. For instance, the main entrance road lined with plane trees and the small passages next to the Stone House were created using leftover flagstones from the reconstruction of the Hungarian National Museum.
The Winter Garden colonnade is a unique wedding location
At Daalarna Garden, everything was custom-designed, including the Winter Garden, which is often used for wedding receptions. The space is covered from above (but can be freely connected to the surrounding landscape at any time) and is actually a magnificent colonnade. The cast-iron columns on this hall were made in 1895 in “Miskolcz” by Jenő Hercz. He was a local master craftsman, and it is hard to see many more of these cast-iron columns in Hungary.
The pool is one of the most unique features of Daalarna Garden
The pool at Daalarna Garden is a huge, large pool, 6 x 21 metres wide, which can be heated by solar energy on demand and at night, it is lit by mood lighting. In addition to the exclusive effect of the stretched water, the pool’s greatest feature is that it is operated using saltwater technology. It is 100% chlorine-free, making it skin-friendly and non-polluting.
